Membership

Here at CCC, we try our best to take church membership seriously. We believe it is a Biblical concept and that every believer in Christ should have a local church they are plugged into.

How to become a member of CCC?

  1. Sign up through the Church Center link provided (which will be posted on our website when the membership class registration is opened).

  2. Join both sessions of the membership classes.

  3. After completing both sessions, if you do want to proceed as a member, you’ll receive an email within 5 days detailing how you can connect with an elder to do the membership vows. Which is the next step toward membership.

  4. Meet with an elder to do your membership vow

  5. Join our membership public installment.

Transfer of Membership

If feasible, it is highly preferred that you notify your previous church when you decide to become a member of Covenant City Church. So that your previous church can send a transfer of membership letter.

Note that a transfer of membership letter does not omit the requirement for you to join the membership classes.

Former churches may send a letter or certificate of transfer to:

Covenant City Church (a/n Tezar Putra)
Jl NKF No. 4A
Jakarta Selatan 12560
Indonesia

For digital letters or certificates, please email them to:

mail@covenantcitychurch.id

The letter or certificate should say:
1. You are a member in good standing.
2. They are releasing you into Covenant City Church’s spiritual care.

Baptism

Adult Baptism

We highly encourage every believer in Christ who has not yet been baptized, to be baptized in the local church they desire to be a member in. If you have never been baptized before and would like to be through CCC, you will need to complete the membership process first (see above). And please be sure to discuss your desire to be baptized during your membership vow with the Elder you have been assigned to.

Note: If you have been baptized before, we do not re-baptize those who have already been previously baptized at another church, except for extraordinary exceptions that you could include in your baptism form.

Baptizing members of your household

When it comes to baptism in the New Testament, just like circumcision in the Old Testament, we believe that Christian parents are called to apply these covenant signs to the members of their household.

Non-Communicant Member

To a child who has not yet believed in the faith of their parents, Christian parents are still called to baptize them, although just like circumcision in the Old Testament, their baptism does not save nor guarantee their salvation, but merely sets them apart as a part of God’s community, though not yet saved. They will be considered non-communicant members of the church, and should not yet partake in communion.

Please note: At least one parent has to be a CCC member if you would like your child to be baptized as a non-communicant member at CCC

Communicant Member

To a child who already believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, but has not yet been baptized. We also encourage parents to baptize them. However, they will be considered communicant members of the church and can partake in communion.

From Non-Communicant to Communicant Member

If your child has been baptized in Covenant City Church as a non-communicant member, but then has personally received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior somewhere along the way, praise God! In order for children to transition to become communicant members (so they may partake in the communion), they must complete a Confirmation Class. This 6-session class is offered twice a year where children are taught by one of the Elders what each point of our membership vows means. To learn more, please visit https://www.covenantcitychurch.id/confirmation-class

  • Baptism is a sign and seal that signifies we are a part of Christ’s body, the universal church. However, when we read the book of Acts, membership in the universal church of Chris is always expressed by membership in a local church body. Which is the local expression of the universal church all believers are a part of. In the New Testament, it is unprescribed to be a member of the universal church, without also becoming a member of a local church in your area. Baptism is the last step of that process.

  • CCC Membership Class is held twice a year (the first cycle is usually in February while the second cycle is in October).

  • No it does not, our goal for these sessions is to propose to you the Biblical factors of what you must look for in a local church, as well as propose the importance of becoming a member in a local church.

  • One: because we feel that the information in both classes are necessary for you to grasp what the Bible says about how to choose a healthy local church. Two: because you won't be able to get to know the staff, elders, deacons, and other potential new members in that class only through one session exposure.

  • If you are only able to join one session, we encourage you to not sign up for that cycle, but rather wait for a cycle where you are able to join both sessions. There will be no make-up sessions.

However, if there are any extraordinary circumstances where you can only join one session and you need a makeup session, please email us at freddy@covenantcitychurch.id to talk to us about your situation.

Note: If you already took one session and have to miss another session and are not eligible to take the makeup session, then you have to retake both sessions in the next membership class cycle.

  • We encourage you to sign up to membership class only if you can join both sessions. But, we do understand that there may be certain unexpected circumstances that may arise. In the event that you are only able to make it to one of the sessions, you will have to wait for the next membership class cycle (usually held in the next semester) to take the session that you were not able to join.

  • Yes, you can still do the vows as long as the gap between the completion of your membership class and the vow is not more than 2 membership classes (for example: There is a class held on Oct 2022, Feb 2023, and Oct 2023. If you completed both sessions of the membership class in Oct 2022, the latest you can do the vow is Oct 2023. With this example, you will not need to re-take both sessions of the membership class.)

If you want to do your membership vow, please contact us at freddy@covenantcitychurch.id

  • "Do you believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testament, to be the Word of God, and its doctrine of salvation to be the perfect and only true doctrine of salvation?"

“Do you acknowledge yourself to be a sinner in the sight of God justly deserving His displeasure, and have no hope, except through His sovereign mercy?"

"Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and trust Him alone for salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?”

"Do you now resolve and promise in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as a follower of Christ?”

“Do you promise to support the Church in its worship and work to the best of your ability?”

“Do you submit yourself to the government and discipline of the Church, and promise to study its purity and peace?”

  • If you are married, we invite you and your spouse to do your vows together with one of our Elders in the church. If your spouse does not identify as Christian, it does not preclude you from membership. However, we would like to have a conversation to discuss how to best support you, your spouse, and your marriage as you proceed with membership.

  • Please let us know by emailing us at freddy@covenantcitychurch.id so we can read your name during the membership public installment.

  • Unlike regular attendees, members have the responsibility of regularly voting on matters that guide the direction and action of the church. Perhaps more so, members also have the privilege of strengthening our church according to the membership vows. While both regular attendees and members enjoy the benefit of spiritual formation, the resources of diaconate and pastoral care will more readily directed to and available for members.

  • Although there are certain events that are just reserved for members. The weekly community group, ongoing bible study and many other events are open for everyone.
